Descriptive Writing Assignment

"Anything. Anything descriptive. A room. Or a house. Or something you once lived in or something - you know. Just as long as it's descriptive as hell" (Salinger 28).

In chapter four, Holden writes a descriptive essay about Allie's baseball glove. You will do the same, and will write a short, descriptive essay on a topic of your choosing.

  • Suggestions: a place you love, an object, something you love to do, a person
  • This is a creative writing assignment. You can break free of the structure of a standard essay! Feel free to ignore many of the requirements for regular essays (i.e. using first person, writing out contractions, etc.)

  • Length: approximately 1-2 pages, double-spaced, 12 point font
  • Creative title
  • Submitted in Google Docs
    • Saved as: Last Name.First Name.Class period.Book
  • When describing, you should address the five senses so the reader can visual it
    • Sight, smell, hearing, touch, taste
